the truth about to-do lists [a Monday manifesto]

Do not be weighed down by the clutter in your life: lots of little chores to do sometime, in no particular order. If you focus too much on these petty tasks, trying to get them all out of the way,  you will discover that they are endless. They can eat up as much time as you devote to them.

Instead of trying to do all your chores at once, choose the ones that need to be done today. Let the rest slip into the background of your mind, so I can be in the forefront of your awareness. Remember that your ultimate goal is living close to Me, being responsive to my initiatives. I can communicate with you most readily when your mind is uncluttered and turned toward Me. Seek My Face continually throughout this day. Let My Presence bring order to your thoughts, infusing Peace into your entire being.

[today's reading in Jesus Calling, by Sarah Young]

This little book has been bringing me great encouragement and much-needed eternal perspective.

And this entry today... Well.

My control freak self has no idea how to really do this, but I'm sure as heck going to try.

Amen and amen.

Me. I'm with you.

Rebecca - I thought you might be. Almost called you this morning to read this to you, then decided to share it with all of the interweb instead. Maybe I'll call you anyway. To discuss peppermint coffee and also why our daughters refuse to wear pants. E is sobbing about this as we speak. Good times.

Sharon - I say yes on all accounts. I think you'd love it. She is a missionary, went to Covenant among other places. So far I think the teaching is solid and the content is content is both grace-filled and convicting (in a constructive, encouraging-not-shaming way). And quick, but also something you could easily spend time meditating on throughout the day. Two thumbs up from one spiritually and emotionally tired mama to another.
